There is no music, effects or titles; just raw video and audio in this piece. We will use titles for the interviews and an upbeat soundtrack to reflect the light-hearted promotional theme.

LO2 Rushed Footage Analysis for RSPCA

For the two shooting days at the RSPCA  (19th December 2014) we recorded the main 'Games Night'. We used 2 Canon 650D DSLR Camera's plus regular and portrait lenses, tripod and Rode Shotgun Microphone for capturing sound from interviews.

Although the focus was quite good on this rush, we feel a tripod may be needed for the pans as they were a little shaky. The audio here will not need to be changed, even though it is noisy, due to the fact that there will be a voice over. We felt the angle of the camera was good as was the lighting. We felt the lighting helped to show the friendly atmosphere in the event and the angle showed the gaming from the point of view of someone playing it, giving the audience the feeling that they are there.
a) Setting up Appropriate Equipment
For the RSPCA segment, we had access to 2 Canon 650D DSLR Cameras as well as one type of lense which was a Regular one. We also took a tripod in case we needed any stiller shots of the event.
b) Following Script/Storyboard
Our intention for our production segment was to record footage and afterwards add a speech overlay to review the games we played. After the event we began to work on the script based on our experience, talking about how we thought each game was like. Due to us doing live interviews there was no chance of us getting scripted responses from the people we interviewed.
c) Following Safe working practices
This means following the risk assessment and recce in order to keep potential risks to a minimum. Take for example the risk of theft, due there being crowds of people, was minimised by concealing and protecting equipment.
d) Following Production processes
For my contribution to this production, I assumed the position of co-director, camera operator, and edited part of the final segment.

Risk Assessment LO1

These are the risk assessments from the 2 filming dates

LO1 Storyboard

The below storyboard is for our first filming day on the 18th Dec. We had a few initial plans for the storyboard but we could not fully plan it as we were documenting the night and did not want to interfere with the atmosphere, so we had to get the shots we needed by walking round with the camera and setting up when there was a good shot.

The Storyboard below is for our second day of filming on the 7th Jan, these are 2 shots that we could plan as we knew they would happen. Due to the fact that it is a documentary, we could not plan too many shots as we were having a tour of the area and did not know which areas we would go to.

The show can be before the watershed as none of the footage in our segment breaks any OFCOM broadcasting regulations. Our segment will be around 5 minutes and make up one of the many segments to the show. The show can be daytime or primetime as it should have a large audience of gamers in our area.

LEGAL AND ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
  • Copyrighted Material – Ask Permission to film on the premises
  • The majority of our targeted audience are under 16 and therefore should not be exposed to explicit imagery or language. If content in our segment breaches the guidelines of OFCOM, who states that depending on the age rating of the broadcasted show, the limit of content is controlled; i.e portrayal of gore, swearing and sexual themes.
PROPOSED SCHEDULING TIME
Daytime Television - Pre-Watershed Regulations
The Games Corner is scheduled to be shown at midday, before 9 pm and therefore the watershed. This limits what content be shown as it may be viewed by children; unsuitable material can include everything from sexual content to violence, graphic or distressing imagery and swearing. This means we have to be careful as to what we film; 2 games that would not be acceptable to show in detail at this event would be Killzone 3 and Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies, as their graphic content deems them to be rated 18 certificates.
